This book was originally a song, and inside the back cover, you have a CD of Melanie singing the song. When Melanie would tuck her children into bed at night, she made sure they knew how much they were loved. She told them she loved them more than anything even chocolate! Her children knew she was a chocoholic, so they had no doubt, they knew they were loved! Every child wants to know they are loved, and this book conveys what parents want their children to know in a way that speaks clearly and impressively to the child's mind and heart.

My Thoughts:

Ok...when I saw this book being offered...I immediately thought of my chocolate-loving little 8 year old daughter, and just HAD to get it and see what it would be like. IT IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! My girl has always loved the same book from the time she was tiny--this book has just replaced it...although it still ranks #2 :) I loved the lyrical stanzas even before I realized it had a CD in the back and was actually a song. Roo found it immediately and read it straight through....putting it to her own music before she had ended the book. She then proceeded to read it to everyone who would listen in the store we manage...and has taken it everywhere we have gone the past 3 days since we got it. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the book....but love even more how much my daughter has fallen in love with it and is READING (all on her own) to everyone who will listen! The pictures are wonderful and eye catching. They are easy to look at over and over (which is a GOOD thing when your child wants to read it to you over and over!)

If you know of anyone who has children who enjoys chocolate--this is the PERFECT gift for them. Even my older boys enjoy hearing the story (& song) despite their 'advanced' years. It is a timeless message to any child of any age. Would make THE PERFECT gift for a new Mom...or an older one!

This book rates a 6/5 for us...which I have NEVER done. Be sure to find it and get it...add it to your library and those of your children, grandchildren, and friends!

Inspiring Devotionals for Pre-Teens!

My Thoughts:

Your boys NEED this devotional! All boys love a good dare...and this devotional is packed FULL of them! I spent the last few weeks going over this for Biblical truthfullness...and have found no errors. I have just started my 11 year old reading & studying it. He is enjoying it and starting to actually work on some of the dares--all on his own! It is a wonderful tool for those of you who want to encourage your boys to learn God's will for their lives!

I give this book a 5/5. I WILL be looking for another copy for my middle child to be able to go through!!!

My thoughts:

Even though this study is designed for 9-12 year old girls. I had fun going through it! Ok...so I didn't take ALL the dares...some WERE a bit juvenile for a xxx year old like me! However, there were many that we as adults should be taking as well. I found this devotional to be cleaver and witty and thoroughly Scripture based. I am putting it up for my daughter for her next birthday! I can't wait to see how she will grow and change as she learns more from God's Word through this study. Please give your daughter a Blessing and get her this book!
I will give this one a 5/5 as well.

I have spent the last several weeks engrossed in these two studies. They have helped me to grow and develop my relationship with God. I have been able to pinpoint problems in my life that needed addressed and take care of them with His help. Both of these studies are Bible-based--which is a MUST for me! They are filled with questions that make you dig deeper into the Word and find answers that apply to YOURSELF...not just anyone. If you are wanting to grow in the Lord...go out and find these Bible Studies! I give both of them a 5/5....with the one on Ephesians maybe a 5.5/5 :)

KC: Tell us a bit about YOU that our readers might not know.

Ashley: I am a working mother of two who absolutely loves what I do. Writing is my passion but my children are my world. I take them to work with me every day, and since I work with my husband, it is a big family event every day. Some days, I get absolutely nothing done at work because I’m too busy playing cars or rocking a baby, but it is well worth it to me.

KC: Tell us about your latest release.

Ashley: My newest book, Shadows of Pain, is the third in my Shadows Series and focuses on Kami Reynolds and Daniel Jenkins. Kami and Daniel have been in both of the previous books in the series and now are being targeted by a killer. The more they fight it, the closer he gets but also the closer they get. Theirs is a sweet love that is born at a dangerous time. We also keep up with the other Shadows characters along the way!

KC: What made you want to become a writer?

Ashley: I have always enjoyed reading and telling stories. It just seemed natural to put pen to paper and tell the stories in my mind. My first book was the result of a series of events, one of which was reading a predictable mystery book that made me wonder how I would make a book less predictable. I used my imagination and started my first book. My mother and a lot of my family encouraged me to finish and eventually publish my book.

KC: Do you write under a pen name?

Ashley: Yes I do. I write under the pen name Ashley Dawn. That is my first and middle name, I decided in the beginning to write under the name Ashley Dawn, because knew my last name would change at some point but I would always be Ashley Dawn. I absolutely love my middle name so it seemed like the perfect name to use.

KC: Authors love all of their characters. Is there a certain type of character that is easier to write than another?

Ashley: The stubborn women are the easiest to write! I mostly base my characters off my family and I have lots of stubborn women in my family who have those traits. Aurora from my first book was a snap to write. She has an attitude very much like my own and I loved writing her sassy dialogue. It seems that most of the women in my stories, from mothers to girlfriends to police, they all have the tough exterior and try to show the world they can handle anything on their own. It is a great joy to write those ladies!

KC: Do you read in the same genre that you write in?

Ashley: Absolutely. To me that is the best genre there is! I love to read Irene Hannon, Dee Henderson, Terri Blackstock, Lynette Eason and a whole long list. The mystery, suspense and romance mixed with the message of Christianity is a wonderful thing. I aspire to be more like these amazing authors as I write.

KC: Do you have any strange quirks or unusual habits when you are writing.

Ashley: Haha! I absolutely do. The biggest one is that I have to hand write every word of my book before I type a word. Each book has a specific color of legal pads and I have special pens to write the story. I still do editing and rewording after the book is typed up but in the beginning the whole thing is written on those pads with particular pens.

KC: Tell us about a typical day in your life as a writer.

Ashley: My typical day as a writer has to be a Saturday since I work a 9-5 job through the week but when I get the chance I get my pad and pen, corral my children and try to lose myself in the story. Most days it starts with getting the children to either sleep in or play contentedly as I write, I drink water and eat marshmallow crème and pretzels. I know its strange but it is good brain food! I get interrupted multiple times, do dishes, laundry and any other housework I can get to. The whirlwind day is the day I write the best!

KC: Where do your story ideas come from?

Ashley: A lot of my ideas come from dreams. Apparently my vivid imagination doesn’t shut off when I sleep and I get a lot of my best ideas in the middle of the night. Actually ‘seeing’ my book in my dreams makes it so much easier to write it down. It is a thrill to write about the people I ‘meet’ in my dreams! When I wake up, I can still see them and sometimes just daydream and write what happens 

KC: What made you decide to write a series?

Ashley: As I wrote my first book, I fell in love with the support characters almost as much as I did with Aurora and Jordan. Jordan’s family dynamic interested me so much that I had to explore it in depth and that lead to further interest in the characters. I decided each of them needed their own story. Not just Jordan’s family but also Aurora’s. Her family may not be what is thought of as a conventional family but they are definitely closer than a lot of families I know. It is just wonderful to explore all the characters in depth and to let them develop on their own through the whole series.

KC: What is your next project about?

Ashley: I am currently working on a couple different projects. I’m trying to finish a new book, not related to my series, and currently titled ‘Right to Remain?’. It is about a serial killer, attorney, nurse and a race to save a young girl’s life. The other project I’m trying to focus on is the 4th book in my Shadows Series, Shadows of Deception. This installment focuses on Tiffany Reiley and a new character to the series, Colorado Wiley. Tiffany is hired to discover exactly what is going on at Colorado’s ranch and maybe she will discover love along the way.

My Thoughts:
HOLD IT! You NEED to get on-line and find this book! It is an EXCELLENT read!

Daniel is such a personable fellow! You can totally relate to him as he fumes and tries to justify what he's done/is doing. He is so easy to fall in love with as you see him hurt and recovering. Kami gives Daniel that extra push to help straighten out his thinking and help him. When she becomes a target as well, Daniel has to put his selfish thoughts aside to focus on helping to bring the perpetrator to justice. Neither Daniel or Kami make very good 'helpless victims'.

It was encouraging to see how Ashley Dawn wove Daniel's struggle with his faith and how he came to terms with God into the relationship he and Kami were developing. It seemed true and accurate to how many people would feel or act in today's society. Kami's support for her friend came through strong. It was fun to watch how their relationship bloomed from friendship to romance.

Ashley Dawn is one of my all-time favorite authors. She does a fantastic job of combining suspense in a family oriented setting with a great plot, and well defined characters. I enjoy reading the series and seeing how she pulls a few new characters into the mix along with giving us so much more information on characters that made an appearance in previous books. While each of the books easily stands on its own, it is so much fun to read them in a series and watch the characters grow and learn. I give her book a 5/5. You definitely need to get this book for your keeper shelf!

My Thoughts:
Ok, I know I have reviewed this book before....but I found my self reading it again the other day....and I simply could NOT put it down! Typically, once I've read a book before, I have no problem putting it down in favor of sleep. I sure don't have any problem skipping over parts and simply skimming it. In stead of that, I found myself losing a whole night's sleep in favor of rereading the book. I just couldn't find a part of it I wanted to skip over in order to speed up my reading, and I couldn't put it down to go and sleep without finishing it! It's such a nice, refreshing change to find a book that is so compelling and interesting! I am very much looking forward to the next book in his series!!! I have managed to get a copy for my son's birthday (and the author was kind enough to sign it!).
I give this book a 5/5. It is one that is great to read....and read again! and then pass on to the next generation of readers. You want to go and find this book and add it to the TOP of your pile of books to read!

My Thoughts:
I completely enjoyed this trilogy! Yes, I put them out of order as to which they say is book 1 & 2...chronologically, they are in this order. I enjoyed the fast pace of all of the books. She does an excellent job of keeping your attention through the whole of the book. They are all packed with lots of suspense and intrigue.

These are not in my normal reading genre, but I have learned to enjoy them tremendously thanks to this writer. The fact that she builds on each one and intertwines all of the books and characters just helps keep you looking for what is going to happen next. They are a quick, easy read that will help to take you out of the every day and into the unusual for a nice period of time.

I give them a 4/5. You will enjoy reading them, but there are some parts that I tend to skip as I prefer not to read about it.....

My Thoughts:
This absolutely beautiful book (illustrations and message) is what I would consider necessary reading for all children from Pre-K to third grade. It wouldn't be a bad thing for older children to read, either! The pictures in the book are detailed, imaginative and absolutely gorgeous! The story of Boris and Henry's friendship is sweet and easy to understand. The reader will readily empathize with the boys as they try to explain to others that being different is OK and that they really are just like all the other kids. In the end, because they refuse to treat others like they had been treated, and instead, follow the Golden Rule, they are able to 'save the day' and the other kids finally realize that being different is an absolutely perfect way to be.

As a home schooling Mom, I decided to let my children read the book and see what they thought about it. My ten-year-old stated that it shows that "being different is alright and it might be what helps someone be able to save your life, so it wouldn't be a good thing to bully them just because they are different." My eight-year-old said she didn't like it when the bullies were making fun of the boys just because they were different. She said that made her feel bad, but that it made her feel good when they helped the bullies and everyone was nice to them. We were able to discuss why bullying is bad and how it effects the people who are bullied and the ones who are bullying. I found it an excellent resource and believe others will as well.

This book is intended to help instill the values of acceptance and kindness in children at an early age. The story is adorable and thought provoking. It is designed to encourage kids to ask questions that will help you talk with them about bullying and its detrimental side-effects.

I give this book a 5/5 rating! You would do well to find it and add it to your shelf! Especially if you have young children...or teach them!

My Thoughts:
I was totally lost in this book! Could NOT put it down. I already loved the Guardian Angelinos after the first book. It was very nice to find characters I already knew about in this book. Marc is a player who uses his charm to complete his assignments. Devyn made a quick appearance in the first book when her husband was killed. Now she's trying to find her biological mother, but it's proving to be a lot more of a challenge than she expected. She unintentionally steps into a lot of problems and danger when she goes hunting her. Marc has been given a simple job...get Devyn out of Belfast where she is hunting her mother and do it NOW. While he's doing his job, he ends up realizing that Devyn isn't quite as perfect as she looks....and she has a secret of her own that she is trying to find the answer to.....and she believes her biological mother holds the answer she seeks. Devyn is on a mission to find her answer. Marc has to figure out how to convince her to leave instead of looking for those answers.....but he's having a really hard time saying 'NO' to Devyn..... Rarely does an author have enough to make a series BETTER after the first book. Roxanne St. Claire is one of the few. I give this book a 4/5. It's a good read.

Private investigator Vivi Angelino has never met a risk she wouldn't take-and her latest client, a starlet with a madman on her heels, gives Vivi the perfect opportunity to walk on the wild side. My Thoughts:
The Guardian Angelinos just keep getting better! Vivi is such an awesome character who is so much more than she appears to be! I was very happy to see how Roxanne St. Claire brought her character out and showed that rough circumstances can be a great breeding ground for a wonderful character. While Vivi is challenging...she is also relentless when she is trying to do what is right, but she is so vulnerable....and Colt Lang really has no chance when he realizes that he's been underestimating Vivi....again. She has looks AND brains.....and the backbone to pull off a major case. The only problem is, she doesn't always consider the danger to herself before she heads into the fray--and Colt finds himself pulling her out of scrapes every time he turns around. They end up with more problems than either had expected. I also give this book a 4/5. You'll enjoy the series.

Kimberly is a very strong and passionate warrior for Christ & his 'forgotten' children of Sudan and other areas. The story is well written and will have you in tears as well as a few parts that have you laughing, but mostly, it will simply make you sit up and take notice that God may have something more for you life than you are currently doing if you are willing to let go and let Him take the lead.....even if it's not in your normal comfort zone. As you read this story of Kimberly's struggles and how she had to lean on God for her accomplishments, it makes you reevaluate what you are doing or are willing to do for God and his children here and abroad. This is an excellent read. I give it a 4/5. Many people won't read it simply because the book in itself is a challenge to our complacency of life.

I was very impressed with how this book is written. It is a compelling story of a young woman and her journey to improve her family's life situation and how they could have less stress. It is amazing to read about Jackie's life and accomplishments! I would certainly suggest that you read this book.....if you want to be motivated, if you are curious about the history of women and self-employment, if you are self-motivated....it's just a good read all around! Jackie's struggles and accomplishments made me realize how much we are willing to do to improve our family's station in life. I give this book a 5/5. A very good book to get and read or gift!

This book is a completely new genre for me. I found it unusual and a little hard to get into...but once I made the effort, it was a very interesting read. Iara had to make several decisions that I wasn't expecting. The story took some unexpected turns at unusual places until you go deeper into it and can understand more what was going on. I give this book a 3/5. It's a good read, and a good choice for starting a new genre if you've not read this one before.

My Thoughts:

This was an interesting read. It started fast and kept your attention through the many details and continual action as one side races to silence the truth and the other side continually tries to derail the attempts, not often successfully, in order to bring the greedy and hypocritical principal players to justice. The struggle you see as Pamela Lawson's unnecessary struggle for life and the results that occur. I would rate this book a 3/5. It is interesting, well written, and will rivet you to the pages. It is the first medical thriller I have read, and it is definitely one that has opened a door to a 'new world' for me!

The irony is I f***ing hate coconut. As in full vomitorious spine chills just thinking about its nasty texture, to say nothing of the chunder-taunting scent that conjures peroxide-y sluts smearing their 'kini cleaves with Panama Jack "tanfastic" oil. I might even go so far as to say I don't even trust people who like coconut. But still, despite nightmarish Hawaiian Tropic/Girls Gone Wild visions and hellacious flashbacks of a bearded Tom Hanks looking not unlike the twentieth hijacker eating coconuts on that island, if I had to identify myself with one advertising campaign, it would be the eighties jingle of Mounds and Almond Joy. Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.

My Thoughts:
This is a snarky, yet amusing account from the author's life where she is trying to be humerous and amusing. I found the language more vulgar than necessary, but many people don't mind it. Many of the stories would make you hurt yourself laughing and some would just have you shaking your head in amused disbelief. I would rate this book as a 3/5. If you don't mind the language, it is an amusing read.

This is a very Biblical based study book. I found it very informative and insightful. It gives a lot of excellent advice on how to stand firm in spite of different kinds of opposition when you know what God's word says about what you are standing firm on (God's Word). The breakdown of the study helped you to go more in depth into the scriptures. It is an excellent Study, and I have every intention of looking for some more of this series to study. I give this book a 5/5. If you want an excellent Bible study, this IS one.

My Thoughts:
This is a very "cool" book, according to my daughter! The illustrations are very colorful and imaginative. The story is very easy to follow and fun to read. Having just gone through several snow days, my daughter was intrigued to see how many things the children in this book did that she and her brothers had done. The book is well written and gives lots of fun ideas for children to do with their parents or grandparents. It is also written so that it can be read to a child--or the child can read it on her own (by second grade at least!). I home school, and this book is going on our bookshelf as one to pull out on snow days--or days we wish for a bit cooler weather! It will also be one I use to help with reading-out-loud practice. I would rate this book a 5/5. It's adorable and unique. You'll want it for your kids' bookshelf!

The illustrations are very colorful and detailed. They are fun and considering it is personifying animals, very realistic looking. I give this book a 4/5. It is worth getting when you find it...and if you know a child who could use encouragement....move it to the top of your list :)

Mr. Wall has an excellent imagination. This book is well written and interesting. Granted, it is fiction, but Mr. Wall did an excellent job of making his great-grandfather come to life for the reader! The character is well developed and easy to like. Using actual history makes the book even more interesting. Mr. Wall was able to create a plausible story about his ancestor based on what he knew about him that is incredibly real. I would give this book a 4/5. It is a good read!

My Thoughts:

This is a fun, quick-witted read. I enjoyed how Maddie becomes a self-sufficient, empowered woman after having dealt with the insecurities that come from finding yourself in an abusive situation that you have allowed, even if unintentionally. Maddie sees herself as an entire failure when she goes to try to find a new start after having been left a share in a resort with her 2 sisters (whom she doesn't know since they each have another father). She is longing to find a true family and feels like an outcast after seeing her sisters who seem to have it all together. After nearly running over a HOT fella on a motorcycle, she is amazed to find him later while she is trying to clear her mind after dealing with her sisters. In spite of having sworn off men, Maddie can't help watching and yearning for what she can't have. In spite of dealing with her past, her sisters and her rioting emotions, Maddie finds herself falling in love with the Inn, the Town and her sisters. I give this book a 4/5. It's an amusing, quick read that leaves you smiling!

My Thoughts: This book is absolutely wonderful. I cried...and laughed and sat absolutely amazed at what I was reading about Colton and his family. This book is a must read--especially for anyone who is questioning if there is a God--a heaven--and where we go when we die. We often hear that truth comes from children....they haven't enough imagination at that young an age to make up a lot of lies and such....and they are brutally honest! We accept this with normal every day things....so, even though Colton may be talking about topics that are usually hard--he is putting them in the perspective of a 3 year old. The comments he makes are straight-forward and without guile. I give this book a 5/5. It needs to be one you look up and add to your bookshelf!

Flight Plan gives young boys the 'straight talk' that they need as they are getting into puberty. It maps out God's plan for their lives and gives them Biblical sources and a sound guide that is in their own language. There are questions at the end of each chapter that help to bring about discussion with older boys and adults which will help them as they journey throughout their lives and strive to become the Man that God has planned for them. It discusses everything from sex & drugs (which many parents find very hard to broach with their kids) to peer pressure and how to view girls as someone else's future wife and how to treat them with respect.
I found this book to be a great resource and plan to find another copy for my younger son who will be in need of it in a couple more years. I give it a 5/5! If you have boys....or if you have influence on boys....this is a great book to have on your bookshelf. Give it as a gift to your son, nephew, husband, or another boy whom you love!

My thoughts:
HEHEHEHEHE.....I know the answers! This is a wonderful book! This book is great for any child with an inquisitive side! I love how it takes several old legends, myths and tales and simplifies them so that anyone can understand them. This book is written for older children, but is an interesting read for any age! The stories are interesting and informative. The explanations will help to increase people's vocabulary (not just a child's) and understanding. The author explains how people use current technology from everything from CAT scans to space technology and other interesting jobs to prove or disprove many old mysteries that people have been trying for generations to find answers to. In many cases, while they may find AN answer....they are quite straight forward about letting us know that there are other mysteries that evolved from the findings they were able to discover....and in some cases, there are just no certain answers. In all these cases, they are quite clear that inquisitive people will continue to search for the answers in new ways as science and technology evolve. While this book is based on science, there is a ton of history in it as well. Homeschooling children who love both--this book is a GREAT asset to our library! The illustrations are colorful, lifelike and detailed. They greatly enhance the information given. I rate this book a 5/5. Definitely worth finding a copy for your library (personal and classroom!)

My Thoughts:
I found this book very helpful. Having always been more a tomboy than anything else, having a very girly girl has been very eye opening for me! I have sought ideas from a lot of places, but was very pleased to find a book that gave me a multitude of ideas that I can use with my beautiful girl....and for myself. We all want to be more beautiful, and I was extremely pleased to find a book that was so practical and covered so many areas that I hadn't even considered before! I would give this book a 4/5. It is a great resource.....especially for those of us tomboy mommas who have girly girls!

This is a great book! It has a lot of wonderful insights on a lot of different scriptures. I love how he explains the essence of prayer and breaks down several iconic verses. This is a wonderful reference for anyone who wants to increase their understanding of prayer & scriptures....pastors of all kinds, and anyone else who would like to know more for personal reasons. I give this book a 4/5. It is certainly worth getting & reading.....and getting some for others to read!

My Thoughts:
I found this book very inspiring and heart warming. It's always amazing how God will take care of us when we are in His will! I was impressed with how both were such strong characters, and I liked getting both of their perspectives! I was amazed at their willingness to stay in spite of all the turmoil & unrest in the country. Even long after his return to sunny CA, Will thinks of China as home and misses the city where he & Katherine spent so much of their lives. I would rate this book a 3/5. If you are interested in Christian information....especially about how a missionary sacrifices for his Lord, this is a great book (even tho this particular story IS fiction....you come to know the characters so well, you wouldn't be surprised to meet them)! Would make a very inspiring gift.

My thoughts:

This book is sweet & amusing. Mubu is a sweet, mischievious 6 year old who loves to help her grandfather heal animals he has found hurt in the jungle. Her biggest problem is that she falls in love with each one and wants to make it into a pet. Her grandfather understands, but teaches her the importance of letting wild animals remain wild. The story is full of color and interesting facts. I love that at the end of the story--it gives more information about the little girl as a grown up! It helps to make the story even more real! The illustrations are great! They are full of color and life. I would rate this story a 5/5.

My Thoughts:

This is an excellent book! It teaches character traits which I have seen in fewer new book publications as the years progress. Bob is living an idealic life when he realizes that he needs a purpose in his life.....one that will effect otheres. In his quest to determine what that purpose is, he goes to others who are older and wiser than he is. I think this book is great for helping to make it fun for kids to learn how to find answers to questions that may be bothering them...and inspiring in that some kids may simply want the idealic life until they read a book like this and realize they can help others. Kids who find a purpose in life have a much better self-esteem and a higher opinion of themselves...and others. The illustrations are detailed and colorful! I give this book a 5/5. My Thoughts:

This book was a surprise for me. It was enthralling from the beginning. I have rarely found an author that I couldn't completely anticipate what would happen throughout the book. Kate Perry did an exceptional job with this one. It is well written and enjoyable. You can FEEL what Willow or Rick are dealing with throughout their tumultus adventures. Perry did an excellent job of building the characters and divulging just enough information to make you second guess where the end is going. I love how strongly she puts family into the story. I would rate this book a 5/5. I hadn't expected to be very impressed, but this one is definately going on my keeper shelf and I'm going to have to go and see what else this enthralling author has written!

My Thoughts:

This is an adorable and very informative book. It takes Allison through the process of how to make chocolate milk. I like how it brings her dad into it. He challenges her to find out where chocolate milk comes from. Allison goes through several species of cows before she determines where chocolate milk really comes from. I would give this book a 5/5. It is an excellent read and would be a great addition for any teacher's library...or homeschooler's library. Especially of children 4th grade and under.

My Thoughts:

I found this book very intersting. Zoe and Ethan make a unique couple. Both have had previous marriages and Zoe is hiding from in-laws who do not believe she has a sixth sense or that she is sane. Ethan is fighting demons of his own and is very insecure for such a well-rounded character. As the story progresses, the conclusions aren't really that surprising, but Krentz did manage to wrap up ALL of the loose ends by the end of the book in a very appealing way. I would rate this book a 5/5. I enjoy all of Krentz works and it is definately going on my bookshelf.

My Thoughts:

Ok...this may be a ficticious book....but it hits amazingly close to reality! Having grown up in a town even smaller than the mythical Wheatfield, I found many of the stories, histories and information vastly amusing....an eerily similar to past experiences. I think Patrick Shannon has done an amusing job of showing what small town life can be with all its quirky benefits. Yes, there are some definate parts that aren't so amusing...such as everyone knowing everyone else's business, but that is part and parcel of the small town life. I laughed and laughed throughout this book. I would give it a 4/5. If you come across it...definately get it and read it!

This is a surprisingly intriguing and captivating book. A bit more graphic than I usually read, it is easy to read and has a very interesting story line. Anna is running from horrors in her past....and runs right into her past at a party her mother would not have approved of her attending in the first place. Conlan is working to protect his people when he sees Anna in the den of sin and recognises her in spite of her costume. As their lives are reunited, it seems that the past is going to have to be dealt with before they can move on to their own futures. In a quick and easy read, you fall in love with the intriguing Anna and fall head over heals for the ruggedly ruthless Conlan. I give this book a 4/5.....as long as you don't mind a few graphic scences. It's a quick, amusing read.

I have really enjoyed this series! The book would be a bit confusing if you have read the others in the series, but it is very well written and the characters continued to grow. Ollie is back and more dangerous than ever. Augustus Granger is having to take a larger role in the future than he had intended, but is willing to embrace it for the good of humanity. Ollie's siblings are working hard to get Augustus the backing he needs to help make the world better while Demon's Wrath is doing his best to get Ollie back under his control and ruin the world at the same time. The characters manage to grow as the book progresses and you are given many details that allow you to picture what will continue to happen to this family in the years to come. I am sorry to see this series end! I rate this book a 4/5. It is definately worth finding and reading. If you enjoy Fantasy and Sci Fi--you will most likely enjoy this series!

I think this is an excellent collection of verses with very insightful commentary on each verse that will help anyone who is interested in walking close to God to find just a moment to pause for power for their daily walk. The book is nicely bound for gift-giving (even a very-merry-unbirthday gift for yourself!). Wiersbe does an excellent job of using scriptures to help you focus your day on God and His desire for your life based on what you can learn from the scriptures. Each daily devotional only takes up one page so it will be quite easy to read in just a few moments (which is sometimes all we're willing to spare from our own daily lives) and ends with a Point to Ponder that helps to bring the scripture to heart. I believe this is an excellent daily devotional and would make an excellent gift. I give this book a 4/5.

My Thoughts:

I absolutely LOVED this book! The author does a good job of developing Kerry's character so that she becomes a friend whom you know well. You are able to relate to her and feel her fear, heartache, frustration and joys as she does. Luke is another of my favorite characters. He is charming and annoying in turns and the combination makes him completely irresistable. I like that she pulls characters from the first book into this one and continues to develop them. As Luke struggles to keep Kerry safe once, he is forced to find time to also deal with his faith (or lack thereof) and his feelings for his estranged father. If he can't come to terms with himself...how can he hope to win Kerry's heart? (after he's helped her brothers capture the man who kidnapped her!) I found it very amusing that at times, Luke is siding with Kerry's brothers...while other times, he is making sure she gets exactly what she needs in spite of them! This is a great read for anyone from 8 -98. It can stand alone, but I really enjoyed how well it followed the first book. I am looking forward to seeing what the next book in the series deals with! I would rate this book a 5/5. It's JUST been released, so be sure to look it up on amazon or authorhouse!

My Thoughts:

I was amazed at Lorilyn's persistence and strentgh of will. This book details a woman who TRULY wants to become a mother...not once, but twice....and the struggles she went through in order to make her dreams come true. After a divorce which she thought could be the end of her dreams, Lorilyn struggles back from Satan's clutches and fights for her chance to become a mother to a beautiful little girl from Korea. She jumps through many hoops to make her dream come true. Willing to work and provide the best possible life for this bundle of joy, Lorilyn soon realises she wants another little girl and starts her new search for another daughter of her heart. She showed great tenacity in aquiring her second dream in spite of years of frustration and trial. Lorilyn sets a wonderful example of what can happen to our dreams when we focus on God and let Him lead us in HIS timing for our lives. She is very inspiring! I give this book a 4/5

It shows how we can truly become stronger by relying on Him and showing a true godly fear of His power , mercy and grace. I give this book a 4/5

My Thoughts:

This series continues to mesmerize me! In this second book, Granger, who has no desire to have a leading role in the structure, ends up being hunted by several factions of the Structure because of the possible role he could play in the future. He joins up with Ellis, Ollie's twin, in order to track down Bones, one of the twins younger brothers. As the journey continues, Granger becomes more and more powerful as he learns to use his many 'talents'. Ellis, who is deeply grieving over his twin's demise, is having a LOT of trouble coping because Ollie has always been his total focus. You will laugh and cry as the story unfolds. There are many unexpected turns as Holdbrook sets the stage for the next book in the series. I am still intrigued by this new genre I have found to read. I would give this book a 4/5. It is definately worth reading to find out what is going on in the Structure now!

My Thoughts:

Amazingly tempting! When Riley is hired to take care of the bookwork for the ranch, everyone assumes a guy is coming. Much to their surprise, when Riley shows up SHE is toting her sweet little girl, Summer. The foreman agrees to let her give it a try because of her reference from their accounting firm (and his desire to get OUT of paperwork) and includes room and board for Riley & Summer at the ranch as part of the deal. Riley jumps at the chance to prove herself and get some semblence of ''normal" into her daughter's life. Zane is one of the McCords that Riley is working for. He is the only one who brings her temperature up and seems capable of making her forget the ice wall she has established around her heart. As she cleans up the paperwork, the McCords are searching for the 'lost treasure' of their ancestor.

Zane is one of the most irresistable characters I have met in a while! He exudes an appeal that most women find irresistable, but he finds Riley and Summer irresistable! Not having been around children much, he is amazed to find that Summer has wrapped him around her little finger and seeks out ways to make her happy. Riley and Summer end up caught up in problems not of their own making, and Zane has to decide how or if he needs to be the one to save the day. I rate this book a 5/5. Definately go out and get this book to read!

My Thoughts:

Ollie is very sure of herself and her abilities. Her twin is much less sure of himself, but is more than willing to do what he can to keep her safe. When it becomes obvious that the Oracle is soon to need a replacement, Ollie's services become so in demand that she has to disappear in order to keep from being killed for working for the wrong side. Other complications make it even more imperative for no one to find her. When her family is threatened, Ollie is more than willing to sacrifice herself for their benefit. The first in the series, it leaves you on edge to see what is going to happen next. I rarely read this genre, but I found this book interesting. I would rate it a 4/5. It is well worth the read. I may have found a new genre to read to add to my others!

Shy by William Thayer

Black Buffalo, endowed with wisdom far beyond his era or that which most white people would attribute to an Indian savage, knew that the time would come when Shy would seek his own people as Black Buffalo himself had done. The whites had a different way of life and a boy with Shy's curiosity, intelligence, and indomitable spirit would not remain content forever. His natural instincts and longings would force him to abandon the Indian's way of life for that of the white's. But, for the few years Crooked Foot had to live, he would have a protective brother and compannion in Shy. Black Buffalo made a solemn promise that Shy would be respected, cared for and taught by his family as Black Buffalo himself had been taught by the Taylors.

My Thoughts:
This is one of my most favorite books! Shy is young when he manages to become captured instead of killed by the Indians who hit his wagon train. When Black Buffalo, the chief, sees how he handles himself, he adopts him and gives him the name of Shy. Black Buffalo has a son who is crippled. Shy becomes his champion and Crooked Foot helps to train Shy for the life he will live after he leaves the Indians. Shy grows to become a very formidable opponent. When he finally leaves to find out what happened to the survivors of the wagon train, he comes across the ONE man he actually respected on the train. They journey together and Shy becomes a legend. One that he must learn to live down if he wants to join the White Man's life. Shy is a very interesting read and will keep you on your toes until the dramatic end. I rate this book a 5/5. If you can find it....get it! It's on my keeper shelf.

My Thoughts:

This is a very interesting read! Sariana is all business, but has been living in an environment that promotes a much easier going and emotional life style. She is quite sure she doesn't want to stay in it or bend to it, but after a year of living there, she catches 'small' clues that she just may be 'going soft'. When she receives a marriage proposal that should be the best thing for her, and she finds herself wishing for 'love', she KNOWS she's been there too long. Trying to prove herself so she can go home, she hires a Shield to help her. She gets MUCH more than she bargains for simply because she refuses to give any credit to the legends and stories the people believe.

Sariana is one of those women you just KNOW can be so much more than they are. Gryph realizes this and sets out to win her for his own....and show her that there is much more to life than business. Their quest proves to be intriguing and will keep your attention from start to finish. Saraiana just LOVES to do things differetly! I rate this book a 5/5. It is going on my keeper shelf!

My Thoughts:

This book is absolutely stunning. The pictures that illustrates each Bible verse are full of life and vivid color. The pictures themselves bring to mind God's awesome character. The added verses help to focus our minds on specific blessings and wonders. The authors have done a beautiful job with this book. It well represents God's beauty in this world. The receipes in the back are based on all natural ingredients and would be much easier on your body than prescriptions if you are willing to try them. Some are ment to simply soothe while others have more specific designs. I would rate this book a 4/5. It is lovely and would make a wonderful gift.

My Thoughts:

This is a very heartwarming story. Because of her desire to learn, Katy enters the "World" outside of her Mennonite community to go to school. Being an only child to a single-parent father, she is under many expectations at home, and adding school work to the mix seems to really put more pressure on her. She is unsure if she is doing what is right because of everyone else's expectations. Her desire to continue to learn is simply too strong for her to not at least TRY to continue her education. As she makes new friends from the "world", her life-long friends feel threatened. Her curiosity causes her to feel ostracised in her own Mennonite world. But her Mennonite beliefs make her feel odd in the "World". This story shows Katy's struggle to simply find a place where she fits in. I would rate this book a 4/5. It is well worth the read. Go to the library and find it....or pick it up at a used book store.

My Thoughts:

GO!!! Get up RIGHT NOW and go and find this book! It is captivating, compelling, & simply amazing! While Nick is doing his best to track down a master-mind genieus, he is constantly one, no make that ten, steps behind. He fully suspects SOMEONE from the FBI is leaking information to the man, but is unable to find the source, so he starts holding information closer and closer to 'his vest'. When one of the firey murder scenes is missing the five children....and a couple of nurses, Nick sets out to find them before his nemisis can.

Janet & her best friend Michele are simply working the night shift of a special project when everything starts going crazy. They overhear a plot to kill themselves and the babies that have been in the care....and they set about to try to keep that from happening. Barely succeeding, Janet goes home to her uncle. What happens after they get there is truly enthralling and will have you on the edge of your seat. You will laugh, cry and pull your hair out with Janet and her Uncle as they strive to do things to the best of their ability. When they are finally found....the outcome is totally captivating. I rate this book a 5/5. As soon as it is on the shelves....you NEED to go and find it. It is the first in a series, and I can't wait to see the rest of them! This book is appropriate for youth as well as adults.

My Thoughts:

I was captured right from the start! Sam is the easiest character to be sympathetic with. She has had a very devastating experience, followed by some revelations in her life, that have caused her to simply "remake" herself since Zach last saw her. She has managed to make herself into a very endearing and lovable person--but has made several enemies along the way....including some in the local police department. So.....when she is in desparte need of help, the police are not willing to give her the help. She is forced to turn to people she knew in the past who are capable of protecting her....but it may cost her her heart.....again. I was very intrigued by the whole story. I would rate this a 5/5. Definately worth going and getting for a nice, easy read!

My Thoughts:

WOW! What a book! Shane is really hurting and has been for the last 15 years since his parents went missing. He is hiding a secret that is making him crabby and feeling as though he is very unworthy of anyone's love. Taylor has been falling in love with Shane over the last 5 years she has been working for him, but loving Shane is not on her list of what she wants to accomplish over the next 10 years. She is very much NOT interested in needing a man in her life! When Shane's parents turn up dead and Shane is the prime suspect...will Taylor be able to help Shane prove his innocence--or will she be his worst nemisis?

This is such a great book! While it can easily be read on its own, it ties the series up very well. I rate this book a 5/5. The whole series is well worth getting and reading!

My Thoughts:

Saddle up and let's go! This book is interesting and fun. Dane is an orphan who found the perfect parents to adopt him after he got out of jail. Tharyn, also an orphan, also finds parents to adopt her out west. They had been "brother & sister" in the alley when they were in New York, but had lost touch with each other when parted by the orphan train. I fell in love with Dane as the story after he settled a score with a bully and then some more as he worked so hard to find the spot God wanted him in as a doctor. Both of them were able to realize all of their dreams except two....they both wanted to know what had happened to the other and both were looking for God to bring Mr or Miss Right into their lives. I enjoyed the many characters that made an appearance here and was amazed when I saw a couple of familiar characters from another series make an appearance. I would rate this book a 5/5. It is very much worth getting and reading. (then maybe you'll want to find the rest of the series)

My Thoughts:

This is a very cute story. It focuses on people who are different....and how very special they really are. I was impressed with how the writer and illustrator brought how that even when we have a weakness....oftentimes, we also have strengths that will serve us....and allow us to serve others. I was very impressed that, in the story, even though Gilbert is teased by his 'friends', he treats them with love and consideration when they are in trouble. This is the attitude of many "disabled" people. We need to learn to look past the handicap and see the person and their strengths. I thought this book did a good job of teaching this concept! The illustrations are beautiful! I was very pleased with how they helped emphasise the story! I give this book a 5/5 for anyone having younger children (or older ones you want to impress a lesson on). It would make a great gift!

My Thoughts:

This is a very addictive book. It picks up quickly where is left Eragon in the previous book and keeps your interest throughout the whole. Eragon has many interesting experiences and learns more what it means to be a true Dragon Rider. His training is going forward slower than he would like and he is called upon to use what skill he has too soon. His cousin is on a quest as well after his soon-to-be wife is snatched from him. He is bent on saving as many of the townspeople as he can while still searching for Katrina in order to rescue her. Their lives eventually collide with some unexpected results! When it proves that the fortune teller was correct, and family does betray him, he is heartsore and searching for more answers to questions he's not really sure he wants to ask. The book is very well written and very imaginative! I give it a 5/5. Go and get it...read it and let your older children enjoy it as well :)

My Thoughts:

This is an AWESOME book! I loved it! Johanna is a very tempting heroine. She has a good reason to not want to ever marry again after her first husband is declared dead. Her brother does his best to protect her as best he can when the kind decides to use her in his schemes to promote himself in his land. He talks her into marrying outside of England. She finally agrees after hearing the name of her soon-to-be husband. While Gabriel is fighting his own battles, Johanna learns to fight hers with cunning instead of brawn. She becomes the family's 'saving grace' because she loves them all and will fight even the king for those she loves! I rate this book a 5/5. It is now on my keeper shelf. It is well worth finding it and reading!

This is an adorable story! Corduroy is a cute little stuffed bear who desperately wants someone to buy him and take him home to love, but one of his buttons is missing on his overalls and he thinks that is why no one wants him. So....he goes on a hunt through the department store for his lost button. In the end, he finds out that what he looks like doesn't really matter to one who truely loves him! The story line is classic and one that all kids need to hear....several times! I give this book a 5/5.

My Thoughts:

This story is heart-rending. It is well written and very concise, but the details will make you sick that ANYONE had to endure even part of them, much less ALL of it and more that just isn't told in this part of the story. This book is the first of a series of three that Dave uses to detail his life. It is a story of triumph in that Dave did NOT allow his life to make him become some hard hearted and brutal person. He decided that he survived to do more than just hurt others like he was hurt. He is a good motivational speaker and writer now. Knowing what he is doing now helps get through the book. It will have you in tears for the most of it. I give it a 4/5. It is worth the read, but expect to be very emotional over it.

My Thoughts:

This book is very interesting! I enjoyed it. Mary and her family are on their way west when they happen on a former gorilla who had helped to destroy and loot their former home. Recognizing her husband, the gorilla kills him, leaving Mary and her daughter alone on their way west. Mary decides to take the position her husband has been offered and since she has the same initials as he did, uses the letter that gave her husband authority over the stage station to take control of it and give herself and her daughter a home. On the trip, she meets and employs an Irish girl who becomes a lot of help. There are many dangers in the West.... The biggest danger, she finds, is the men who don't believe she should be able to gracefully and succesfully run a stage station. In spite of all of the hardships and hindrences, Mary is able to succeed because of her own indomintable spirit....and the help of those around her.

I rate this book a 5/5. It is definately on my keeper shelf. I will be reading more books from this author!

I very much enjoyed this book. Jack Countryman has put a lot of effort into collecting and organizing a LOT of Bible scriptures into a variety of relevant groups from worshipping God to dealing with failure in our lives and several areas in between. It is layed out and indexed so that you can find something to read that will be relevant at a glance.

This is such a refreshing book! It has a wonderful list of Bible references neatly catorgized to help us live our life following God's word. I love how it is broken down into catagories that are relevant to what I am dealing with daily and I can simply look in the index and find a list of scriptures that will ease my soul and encourage me at a glance. The scriptures are direct quotes and apply to many different walks of life. They can all apply to any given woman at different times in her life. They can also apply to a wide variety of women....stay-at-home moms, working women, single women, new mothers, empty nest mothers, and anywhere in between. I LOVE that it is direct quotes from scripture and applied in simple catagories! I give this book a 5/5. It would make a wonderful gift for any woman of faith!

I very much enjoyed this book! Ann and Sunny grew up with Myles. Before he took a job in South America, he asks Sunny to become his wife. They correspond but as time goes by, Sunny, who is young and somewhat flighty, begins to yearn for someone closer to home, so she sends Myles a 'Dear John' letter.....that never reaches him. When Myles comes back from a job where he is injured, and obviously hasn't received her letter, Sunny decides to go along with the engagement...even though she is interested in someone else.
Ann, on the other hand, has never fogotten Myles, and has tried to steer Sunny in areas where she will stay true to her man. She doesn't approve of how Sunny is acting and her true feelings for Myles begin to come to the surface as she sees how he is being treated....by Sunny and others.
When it's obvious that trouble has followed Myles from South America...and danger threatens, his true love helps in ways that were never expected.
I rate this book a 5/5. It is older and you may have trouble finding it, but it is well worth the look!

This is a very interesting story. Harry is an adorable boy who quickly wins your heart because of all he's had to endure just because he is different. Even when he goes to a place where he fits in, he has problems....just like would be the case with kids of any age! He works hard and is continually managing to get into scrapes because of his inbred curiosity. He has a couple of side-kicks who become good friends. The fact that Harry has been kept in the dark about his abilities...and how his family perished....just makes him more loveable. As Harry begins to learn how to use his powers, he is plagued by kids who don't like how famous he is just because of WHO he is....and by someone? who is "out to get him".

I rate this book 4/5. It is very interesting and well written. The story holds your attention from beginning to end.

This book is truely enchanting! I was hooked from the first. It is filled with a lot of drama. Hope thinks that because of her past, she will never be able to find true love, so she decides to throw herself to anyone she thinks might fill the void in her heart. Because of this behavior, she earns an unsavory reputation. Mason is a true gentleman and has a heart for God. He is striving to make a name for himself in the shipping business and has 'pulled himself up by his bootstraps', as the saying goes. Is it ill luck that is following him once he sees Hope in jeopardy....or is God trying to get his attention? Will he learn his lesson before he has lost everything he thinks is important to him....or will he find something else more important?

This is the SECOND book in a series, but easily stands on its own.

I rate this book a 5/5. I LOVED reading it and am going to go searching for more from this author!

This is an incredible book. Freckles is a very loveable character. He very much wants SOMEONE to give him a chance to prove himself to be 'just like everyone else'. He wants to be a productive citizen and to find someone he can love. He doesn't really expect to be loved in return, but truely desires to love others. He has many challenges and adventures and is able to prove his worth many times over to someone who will just give him a chance. The Angel is lovely in spirit as well as looks and gives Freckles someone to admire and love from afar. Together they must save something worth much more than money can buy.....

I rate this book a 5/5. Go and find it and read it.....it is good for readers of all ages!

My Thoughts:

This is a good read. It gives you helpful information to put into action to improve your own personal enjoyment of your marriage. If you are interested in improving YOURSELF as a wife, this is a definite read. It gives sound Biblical step-by-step activities that you, as a wife, should be doing if you are wanting to improve your marriage. Be warned, however...this book is for the WIVES only. It doesn't address the husband's role in any more than a glimpse. He reserves that for another book. He points out how God expects us to act and when He expects us to act in ways to help our husbands as well as ourselves. The author doesn't say it will be easy, but it will be worth all your effort because your reward will be God's pleasure in you.....and your pleasure in Him and improvements you will see in your marriage.

I would rate this book a 4/5. It is very interesting and helpful. If you are looking for something to help you improve your marriage--look for this book!

But it wasn't until Skif decided to steal a finely tacked-out white horse, which was, oddly enough, standing unattended in the street, that this young thief discovered that the tables could be turned on him...

My Thoughts:

This is an enjoyable book and helps to fill in some information about Skif that isn't given in the Valdemar series. Skif is a fun character and keeps you amused and interested through the whole story. His antics will make you laugh....and cry. He manages to make some of the hardest situations into something you can smile at. When he is tricked into becoming a part of a very exclusive group, there are some who question the wisdom of the choice, but he proves that he is worthy of the honor. The book is a good read. I rate it a 4/5. It is worth the read, but it is a part of a series, so you may want to look at an used book store for the series.

My Thoughts:

This is a fun and quick read. Inspector Witherspoon is a nice and very hard working officer who does his best at his job....he just needs a bit more help on some of these cases. Mrs. Jeffries is that help. She is a very likeable character who easily manages to help her Inspector without making it obvious that she is the brains behind the investigation.....to others OR her Inspector. She and the other servants she has accumulated through the Inspector's generosity strive very hard to make him look good in the eyes of his superiors as an invisible 'thank you' to him for that generosity. This book is going on my keeper shelf and I look forward to reading the others in this series. I give it a 5/5.

I loved this book! It is a sweet story and one that every child needs to hear often! Chester is an adorable little one who is very worried he is going to miss his Mommy while he is away from her. She finds a sweet way to remind him that she will always be there for him and is just a thought away. I give this book a 5/5. It is a definate keeper....and one that would make a great gift for any new mom.

My Thoughts:

I very much enjoyed this book. It is a fast paced book and keeps your attention from the first argument over the lovely Princess Gabrielle, who has the added lure of a mysterious fortune in her family legend. I was entranced by Gabrielle and her strength and cunning. She makes a wonderful counterpart to the Highlander, Brodrick, who seeks to help her. She has placed him in her debt before he even knows she exists.In spite of her beauty and gallantry, Gabrielle is put in a very precarious position by two men who both want her for their own. Championed by a Scottish Highlander, Gabrielle must seek sanctuary. Gabrielle is the Princess of a small country taken over by England. One of her ancestors had managed to keep the Crusaders from bringing poverty to his country, but when it is taken by England, the country appears to be poor. Is there really a treasure? Both of the men who try to ruin Gabrielle want to know if she really posses the secret of the treasure. I give this book a 4/5. It is definately worth the read.

My Thoughts:

This book has a LOT of history in it that I was never taught in school. It is a bit slow getting everything set up, but once you meet the main character (Henry) and start following his life, it gets interesting pretty fast and keeps your attention. I was amazed at all the information in here that is actually TRUE and can be easily verified with simple searches on the internet. It is actually a bit scary that all of this has happened....or could happen in the near future. Henry is just a regular guy who happens to enjoy shooting guns. Any of us in the Gun Culture can understand this. He is very smart and keeps up with the legislation and does everything in his power to stay legal and still manage to keep his legal rights. It is very easy to be sympathetic to him and his friends as those in places of power decide that they have the authority to do anything they want to Henry and his friends in spite of the fact that what they themselves are doing is illegal according to our constitution. I would give this book a 5/5 rating. It is one I am going to look for to put on my own bookshelf.

My Thoughts:

I couldn't put this book down! It was one of the best written Christian fictin books I have ever read! This story sucks you right in and keeps your attention until the end. Aurora's gripping race to find her brother's killer before she, her partner, and her ex?-fiance end up dead is a story that will keep you up until you know all the answers she is looking for. Jordan is an endearing fella with a sense of humor that is hard to find in guys in the real world. He is truly still in love with Aurora and is willing to do everything in his power to help and protect her....even from herself. The family Aurora has built from the LAPD is dependable, helpful, and.....traitorous? I give this book a 5/5. It is a keeper on my bookshelf. Go out and if your bookstore doesn't have this book--have them order it! (Tate Publishing)
